This tasty fresh smoked salsa recipe is going to be a little spicy. Here are the vegetables that will make this salsa.
- Purple Onions
- Whole Garlic
- Serrano Peppers
- Green Bell Pepper
- Red Ripe Tomatoes
- 1 Lime
To prepare the veggies for the smoker, all you need to do is cut the onions, bell pepper and tomatoes into quarter pieces. For the jalapenos and serrano peppers, just cut them in half from top to bottom. Lastly, just cut the top off the garlic bulb.
Once your smoker has heated to 225 degrees, it’s time to place the vegetables on the smoker. For the perfect amount of smoke flavor, the veggies need to smoke for about 90 minutes.
Tasty Fresh Smoked Salsa
Now let us break out the blender. I use a Shark Ninja Food Processor for this recipe. Start putting the smoked vegetables into the food processor depending on the size of your food processor or blender don’t overload it, you can add more after its blended. Now don’t use all the garlic bulb, I start with 1 or 2 pieces of garlic. Toss in a couple of tablespoons of chopped cilantro. Blend until you get the consistency you like, then taste it, salt, and pepper to your liking. This homemade smoked salsa will last in the refrigerator for about 5-7 days, so keep that in mind when preparing so you don’t make more than you will consume in a week. - 1 pound steak tomatoes cut into wedges with middle stem removed
- 1/4 cup red onion cut into a wedge
- 1 jalapeno cut in half
- 1 serano pepper cut in half
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- juice of 1 lime
- salt to taste
- Preheat your smoker to 225 degrees F.
- Place tomatoes, onion, jalapeno, and whole garlic cloves directly on the grill grates. Close the lid and smoke for 90 minutes.
- Add smoked tomatoes, onion, jalapeno and whole garlic to a blender jar or food processor. Add in the lime juice, cilantro, and salt and pulse until salsa reaches desired consistency.
- Add salt to taste. Eat immediately if you like hot salsa. For cold salsa, transfer to a lidded glass jar and refrigerate for 24 hours before serving. This salsa tastes great when allowed to sit for a bit of time to allow all the flavors to combine.
This salsa is great with breakfast on scambled eggs.
